Playwright & Writer

I am a playwright and writer living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
My work delves into the construction of identity, the social construction of race, the fallibility of the law, and family legacy, often through the lens of history. With a focus on historical plays, my aesthetic is subversive, absurd, and humorous. A committed historian, I aim to illuminate the human condition and the creation and development of the United States and its customs, particularly concerning Black communities. A unifying theme of my work is challenging convention and giving voice to the untold stories of Black resilience. My work has been supported by Callaloo (at Brown University), the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, and VONA/Voices of Our Nations Arts Foundation.
